Our Old House

Praise God, we have exciting news. Someone put an offer on our old house and we accepted it. Now we are waiting for inspections and them to close on their loan. Let me tell you how awesome God is.

I have to tell you that even though this house has been a financial burden to us, God has provided and we have never needed for anything. He is WORTHY!!!!! He has allowed me to have a peace of knowing that in time it will sell. Just be still and know.

Last week, Rick Clendenen was preaching at our church. He gave an alter call at the end of one of the service and he said if something is weighting you down and you need God to move come up. I went and stood in to sell our house. That was Tuesday night. Wednesday our realtor got the MLS# put in. We decided to put it back in realestate Monday, because we just weren't getting any prospects trying to sell it on our own. Thursday, I was on my way to pick Morgan up from school and I was listening to Chip Ingram on the radio. He said if you need something from God, just ask Him. I said "God, I need my house to sell." I kid you not, two minutes later our realtor calls and said "You ready to sell your house? Someone is coming to look at it tommorow." It took me a minute because I was so surprised and then I remember what I had just prayed. I told her and she was like "No Way!!!!" I called my mom and she came and helped us get the rest of our stuff out and clean the place up Thursday night. The people came Friday afternoon to look at the house and loved it. The realtor called Friday night and said they had put an offer in on it. We accepted the offer Saturday and now we are just waiting for inspections and them to close on thier loan.

God is so good. It doesn't have to be some fancy, long, drawn out prayer. Just tell Him your heart and He will listen.

We Survived The Ice Storm

10 days with no electricity, but we survived.

We joked about how bad we had it, but really it was just an inconvenience. It humbled me when I came to work the next day complaining about my lack of electricity, only to find out that my supervisors 8 year old son had to have a feeding tube put in because he can no longer eat. I look at Colton and remember how blessed we are. We have two beautiful, healthy kids, a great new house, great jobs, wonderful friends and family, an awesome church and most importantly a close walk with our Lord and Saviour. What else do you need? Then something like no lights throws us in to a tizzy. We are spoiled. Lord forgive us.

We went out Wednesday and took some pictures. Even though there was a lot of damage to trees, it was still really pretty.

The trees were so weighed down with ice that they were just snapping. You could stand on the front porch and it sounded like guns being shot in the distance, but it was trees breaking.

It's Been A While

Needless to say, it's been a while. It's been kind of crazy getting moved in and settled, but we are getting there.

This is a very busy time of year for us as it is for most, but I did manage to take a few pictures of the kids (or attempt to). Colton was wound tight and didn't want to be serious so I really never got a good one.

(tried a little persuasion, but it still didn't work-hee!hee!)

Aren't they precious!

This is Morgan and Chelsea after their singing debut at the high school. They sang "Christmas Shoes" for the faculty Christmas party.

These are some trees I planted this fall. The first one is a Coral Bark Maple. It's so pretty right now. All the leaves are gone and the bark is bright red.
This is a October Glory Maple. It was really pretty when the leaves changed.
I finally got my tub tiled and stained to match my vanity. I still have to grout it.The kitchen backsplash is finished as well. It turned out really good and goes well with the appliances.I pray you all have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

FINALLY!!!!! Some Pictures!

Better late than never they say. This is a new picture of the front. We still are waiting "patiently" I might add, for our dozer guy to come so we can sow our grass seed. It's almost getting too late.

After the sidewalk got put in, I was able to plant my first tree. This is a coral bark maple. You can barely see it, but the bark is red. I love it. It's of the Japanese Maple family. It will only get about 15' tall and 15-18' wide so it will fill in nicely and block the cars that sit by the garage eventually. I have a Japanese Maple that goes on the opposite end of the house when we get the yard work done.

This is my first attempt at landscaping. I had bought all this compost, peat moss, sand, and mulch for the front of the house. The dirt is mainly clay so I had to add a lot of amendments to it to get something to grow. I ended up using all I bought, just in this one spot. I planted my mums, daffodil bulbs, hostas, Dogwood shrubs, phlox, and hydrangea. I have a lot more to plant, but I'm waiting to get the other side ready so I can see what I want to use and where. I just had to get something in the ground so I stuck this stuff here. This is the sidewalk. We are so glad to finally get it in. Our contractor did a really good job with it. I love the part where it widens and splits. I couldn't wrap my mind around how he was telling me it was going to look. I love it though.

Well, I haven't done much decorating. This is our bedroom. I'm looking for a new bed. I found pieces to the one I think I want, but the rest of it is on order so I'm waiting for it to come in to see if I like it. I did manage to get a picture or two on the wall in the kitchen.
Of course, the most important things got put up first. All our animals have found their new home in the den. We have four deer and a turkey. It's wild kingdom.
The kids love the game area. We have some rearranging to do, but for now it's fine.
I know the pictures are dark. I need a new camera (hint if anyone talks to Kenny around Christmas or March birthday season).

OK, I'm a BUM!

Sorry, I know I promised pictures. I did take some and just haven't taken them off my camera yet. I will try to do that soon.

We did get our sidewalk put it and it looks great. It was just in time. We have so much dirt that it's just a mud pit trying to get to the house if it rains. It actually rained (after about two months without any rain) the day he put the sidewalk in.

We had Kenny's uncle come finish the trim and doors. Now we just need to finish the tile on the top of the tub and the kitchen back splash. I was going to do it last weekend and ended up having a yard sale. Then we've had revival all week and ended up getting the stomach virus on top of everything else so it's been a little crazy. We will get to it though.

I'm still looking for a couch. I found my table and bar stools on-line so they should be arriving shortly. I hope I like them.

Well, I won't say when, but I will try to update with some pictures soon.
See ya!

Hello Everyone!!!!

Sorry, I know I promised pictures, but I keep forgetting about it until I see the blog and then it's too late because my camera isn't with me.

This week is a busy one concerning the house. I gave up on trying to paint the trim and doors and decided to hire someone to come in and do it. They will come Thursday and Friday and wipe it out. Our dozer guy is coming today or tomorrow to finish the yard and prepare it to sow grass. I can't wait to see something besides dirt in the front of the house. We are still waiting on the sidewalk. We've decided to let our contractor do it, but he's busy right now so we have to wait for him. He said he could get to it before winter so I guess I'm going to have to buy some stepping stones until then.

My goal this weekend is to at least start tiling either my tub or the kitchen back splash. I have to get that done and I would love to use my tub. I haven't been able to yet because we can't put the faucets on until the tile gets done.

Amy Jo and I are going to Paducah this week to look for furniture. We're excited about that. We went to Madisonville Saturday but didn't really find anything. I looked in Hopkinsville yesterday and still didn't find anything. I don't know if I'm picky or the stores just have bad taste these days, but it's been very challenging to find what I want.

Well, I will try my best to remember to take pictures and post them next week. This is my last day of work for the week so I probably won't be on a computer while I'm off. Talk to you soon.

Update

Slowly but surely we are making some progress. We are filling nail holes, painting trim and doors, and trying to keep the dust out of the house. We have no grass so that's nearly impossible. We've only moved our basic necessities. We will go get our couch tonight because we have people coming for the home study group tomorrow night and they need a place to sit. I haven't taken anything off the walls or hung anything at the new house yet. We just decided to stay there because it's so much easier on the kids and us. They can go to bed at regular time and we don't have to feel guilty about keeping them out late working over there and go back to the other house to sleep.

We did have our first cookout Tuesday night. Amy Jo, Jeff, and the boys came over and we grilled pork chops, had hash brown casserole, green bean bundles, and peach cobbler for dessert. I love cooking in the kitchen. I can actually get to everything and then throw it in the dishwasher to clean. I love it.

We're In (well, kind of)

We moved our beds there Saturday and a few other things. We still have a lot of painting and cleaning to do. It's easier to work over there now because the kids can just go to bed when they get tired, plus they have their stuff there and can entertain themselves. We don't have satellite yet, but they are surviving (I'm thinking about not turning it back on-hee!).

Yesterday was a sight to behold. We have this burn pile that has some stumps and things from the yard in it. We've been putting all the cardboard from the cabinets, appliances, and everything else down there, but haven't burned them. Kenny had some pallets stacked on top of it to keep it from blowing around. Well, yesterday morning when the wind storm came through, it looked like a tornado had hit our road. I was going to wait for the wind to die down before I got out there and picked it all up but the wind got so high that it even picked some 3X3 plywood pieces up and threw them at the road. I got really nervous because cars were coming by so I got out there in the midst of it and tried to pick up what I could. It was blowing me around, dust and sand were in my eyes, ears and teeth. It was awful, but I was afraid someone was going to get hurt driving by. I'm sure people thought their new neighbor was crazy. There's no telling how far some of our stuff went.

We Have Water!!!!

The plumber finished up about 6:30 p.m. last night. He will get the inspection today. I hope it passes. The first time it didn't on the rough in. He joked with Kenny yesterday saying he has trouble with inspectors. I told Kenny he should have said, "Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why?".

We are wanting to stay there tonight just because, even though all the painting isn't done. I'm not sure if we will or not.

Waiting On The Plumber.....Again

The plumber was supposed to come last Friday but called and said he would be there around noon on Monday. He showed up at 3:30 p.m. He got a little done and was going to come back Tuesday and finish. I left a message for him at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and he calls me at 3:30 p.m. and said he just got my message and he won't be able to come until Thursday. It's really aggravating.

Seed and Bread

Those of you that know me well, know that I love Beth Moore. She encourages me so much. I've had a very stressfull week so far and it's only Tuesday morning. It seems like everything that can come against me has. Now of course, this isn't true and I'm not asking for more. I said it "feels like". Anyways, I was sitting here this morning stressed out, blowing to relieve some stress, and knowing I needed to hear from God before I would feel better. I decided to check Beth's blog since I haven't looked at it since last week and found this very inspirational. I hope it encourages you like it did me. Love you!!!

Countertops!!!!

We got our countertops installed Friday. They look really good. The plumber didn't show up Friday. I talked to him today and he said he would be there after noon. We shall see.
This is the tile we are going to use for the backsplash.
I need to re-caulk. Our builder put white caulk for some reason and it stresses me out.

We had to move the drums for little man. Our new neighbors probably aren't liking us very well. They are really loud because there is nothing on the walls or in the house and it echos a lot. He loves it though.
This is the quilt closet at the end of the hall. Just some extra storage.
This is the pantry. I couldn't get a good shot. I haven't got it organized yet. Right now we are sitting everything in there to keep it out of the way.
We got Colton's bed put up. He's really excited about that. I had to take some of the shelves off to make his tv fit, but we got it in there.
This is Morgan's closet. You can tell by the colors. We think they turned out good together. She really likes it.
Here is my vanity with the mirror in place. I really like it. The other shot is a matching cabinet I got to go behind the commode for storage.Yes, the bathroom is still green for the time being. Their frog shower curtain is sitting on top there on the right.

I'm so excited!!!!

Our contractor is putting the countertops in today and he got the plumber to come today also so that means everyone will be finished except for a few small things. The electricians are coming tommorow or Tuesday to plug up the dishwasher and microwave and finish a few things they forgot. We have to paint all the trim and start moving. YEAH!!!!!!

We have to get our sidewalk put in also. I've called someone for a quote, but he hasn't gotten back with us yet.

If you haven't seen the house, but want to, drop by any time. We are usally always there.

Thank you all for your help and especially your prayers. God is good!!!

A Little Closer---Yeah!!!

This is the office. The countertops will be in Friday. They are light gray. The tall cabinet is for photo albums and scrapbooking stuff. Morgan has a ton of it. The desk drawer to the left is a filing drawer and the rest will be storage. She has some lime green accessories to go in there as well.
This is my bathroom floor. It still has to be sealed, but I thought it turned out really well. It took all weekend to get it done.
This is my vanity and the mirror for it. I love it. That thing is so heavy. It took all I had to help Kenny get it in the house. This is the utility room. It has the sink to the right and then the countertop will go over the washer and dryer. The vent is not aligning correctly so we are going to have to do some work to it.

This is our wild bathroom (no the hall walls aren't purple, it's from the camera). The kids decided on this blue shower curtain that has frogs on it. I bought the green paint to match the curtain. When I started putting it on the wall it looked like Superman's Kryptonite. I'm not so sure it's going to stay. I'm going to wait until I get all my stuff in there and then decide.
This is Colton's closet. He's very proud of it. We'll see if it helps his organizational skills.
This is the kitchen. I love the cabinets. The pictures don't really do them justice. The area where the ladder is sitting will have a countertop for seating. They are installing all the countertops Friday. Paul came and helped Kenny move the appliances last night and they didn't fit. Our contractor fixed it this morning. I was sick to my stomach.
Our plumber is coming Monday to hook everything up and we should be about finished. The electricians still have a little to do. We are going to work on one room at a time getting the trim painted and finish everything in that room. Then we can start moving things in. We will probably just move a little at a time.
Please pray our other house sells soon. We've had several calls since we took it out of realty, but no one has came to see it.
